Arrival to Makassar – the largest city on Sulawesi Island and important sea transport hub (flight ticket to Makassar can be arranged on request). Your guide will meet you at the airport and drive you to Rantepao – our gateway to Tana Toraja. On the way, we will stop in Parepare – one of the major centers of the Bugis people. Overnight in a hotel in Rantepao.

After breakfast, we will go on a cultural trip to explore the land of Tana Toraja. On our way, we stop at traditional villages in Lemo and Suaya. Here we can find the cave tombs guarded by life-sized statues of the deceased (tau tau) on suspended balconies. Next, we will go to Kambira to see the baby graves in live growing trees hidden in a thick bamboo forest. Later, we will move to Sangalla to watch a cultural performance and admire the unique architecture of traditional Torajan houses. We can also have lunch at a local restaurant (at your discretion). After lunch, we will visit the natural burial caves at Londa, and continue to Kete Kesu for visiting the traditional wooden carving village.

Today we will drive to Palawa village to see the traditional houses decorated with dozens of buffalo horns. Next, we will stop in Sa'Dan village to admire the work of local manufacturers weaving by hand beautiful traditional fabrics. Later we will continue the trip to Bori, where we can find the ancient megalithic stones. We will stop for lunch (not included) at Batutumonga, which offers the stunning view over terraced rice fields on the slopes of Gunung Sesean. After lunch, we continue to Lokomata, to see the cave graves in stone cliffs. Later we take a nice nature-walk from Pana through the rice fields and villages down to Tikala. The journey will continue by car to Pangli village and ends in Siguntu, where we can see richly decorated Torajan rice barns. Return to your hotel for a rest.

After breakfast, we will drive to Sengkang, and if time permits, take a boat trip on Tempe Lake known for floating houses and magnificent birdlife. The lake looks even more charming at sunset. Overnight at hotel in Sengkang.

Today we will drive to Tanjung Bira, located on the southern tip of Sulawesi Island. Upon arrival and checking in at the resort, you can enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Free day in Tanjung Bira. Catch some tropical sun on a beautiful white sand beach or relax in the shade of a coconut palm. You can enjoy swimming and snorkeling in turquoise sea or go on a trip to fishing villages where you can see how the traditional Pinisi wooden sailing ships are built.

After leisurely breakfast, your driver will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Jakarta / Bali. At your request, we can connect this tour with the other program. Farewell to Sulawesi.
